Berries, Ice Cream, & Summer Fun

I mentioned in my last post that we have been having a busy summer, which is really to be expected when running a painting business. We don't get to see a lot of Dan during these summer days, but he makes sure that the time we do have with him is quality time. He takes the boys on a trip down to the river with him before it gets dark, or takes Logan on a bike ride, or plays games and reads with them before bed. Just the other night, Eliott tripped and slammed his head on the floor. He got up crying and headed straight past me, and into Dan's arms for comfort. He has always been a bit of a mama's boy (especially when hurt), so it surprised me a bit when he went running for Dan's arms. It made me realize how thankful I am that Dan is purposeful about really being involved when he is home. He loves us so well, and I am so grateful that he makes our family a priority.

When we realized that we had a free afternoon together last weekend, we decided to make the most of it. So Sunday afternoon we headed out to pick strawberries. We ended up having so much fun that we stayed to pick raspberries as well. After that we headed to Amesbury Mass and watched the boys play in a splash pad at a park there. We topped the day off with an ice cream stop downtown before heading home. It was just the pick-me-up we needed before starting a new week.
