Countdown To Christmas: Week One

This week was a difficult and busy one. It was a little emotionally draining, and we were all pretty sleep deprived too. I won't get into that here right now, but wanted to share about our week and all of the fun Christmas related things that we did instead.

I had no idea how much fun we would have with this Christmas Countdown Project until we were a few days into it. In all honestly, I did wonder if we would just be adding more craziness to an already busy season. I was pleasantly surprised that it hasn't felt that way at all. It has been such a sweet time to have fun with Logan every day. I needed that time to just allow myself to slow down, relax with him, and really start enjoying this season.

Here is a little about what we have been up to this week...

Monday:
We made a felt Christmas tree that he can decorate however he wants. It was an idea that I had seen all over pinterest, and thought it was cute. I took advantage of a big piece of green felt when I saw it at the fabric store a few weeks ago. He can pull all of the "ornaments" off and then put them all back on somewhere else. He made a few ornaments with some craft supplies while I strung these decorative balls to add to it. We watched a movie and ate Christmas m&ms to make it an extra special night.

Tuesday:
We ate homemade cranberry sauce with crackers while we built this cardboard nativity set. We talked about what the wise men brought Jesus and what the animals in the barn might have thought about Jesus being born. He loved playing with the little people and animals for the afternoon.

Wednesday:
We made felt trees that Logan had fun decorating with glitter glue and sparkles. We glued them to a toilet paper roll to make them stand up. Then, we built a cute snow man out of cotton balls. We snacked on peppermint sticks while we glued the little winter scene together.

Thursday:
We went to the festival of the trees Thursday night. They fill the town hall with trees that have been decorated and auction those off. We took a cute little train ride around the block. (That is what the excited little face in the upper left hand corner was about.) We walked by all the shops that were lit up with Christmas lights and colors. Even though we don't really do santa, Logan was still really excited to meet the man dressed in the Santa suit. He asked what Logan was hoping to get for Christmas and Logan told him that he was hoping for candy canes. :)

Friday:
Dan and I were both working Friday, so Logan came to work too. I knew it was going to be a busy day, so I brought a little Christmas tree ornament kit for him to paint. It was just a simple little craft that kept him busy for a while.

Saturday:
We spent a good portion of the day Christmas shopping with my mom. After that, we came back to our house and all had dinner together. Logan made this little gingerbread man and then we got cozy on the couch to watch an old Christmas movie.

I hope you are getting some time throughout the week to relax and enjoy the season too!

    1. Thanks:) this week is going much better sleep wise! Yes, I thought the cranberry sauce turned out really yummy. Here is the recipe... http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/perfect-cranberry-sauce-recipe.html (we left the salt and pepper out). He (and some of his little buddies) have been loving the felt tree. I am so glad I came across the idea because it has been a lot of fun for him.

  2. Cute projects! I bet your little one is loving all these activities!
I particularly like the idea of the little ones having there own tree to decorate. My son is going to start having his own mini one next year (he's a little young for it right now)
