Christmas Parade & some plans for the season

This week was the kick off to what is sure to be a very busy holiday season. It was packed full of family and sweet memories. It also brought a snow storm with extremely heavy snow. The kind that sits beautifully in the trees for days with the sun shining off of it. With that kind of heavy snow, also came a bunch of power outages in New England. Our power was out for a couple days, and our internet took even longer to come back. So while it wasn't exactly convenient, we made the most of forts, and flashlights, and books.

Thankfully, we had plans to be at my in-law's house for Thanksgiving dinner (and they had warm showers for us). After we spent a few hours with family there, we headed to my brother's house for a second dinner (and warm beds). We are so blessed to have such wonderful families! My mom and I did some black friday shopping which has become a fun little tradition for us. We had a pizza and poker night with Dan's siblings because my brother in law was home from college. Logan had his first cousins sleepover at Eliza and Paige's house. Then, we had another family dinner tonight.

Saturday, we went to the Christmas parade that we go to every year with Dan's family. It was so much more fun this year. He is at such a fun age to really love everything about Christmas. He was shouting "MERRY CHRISTMAS" to everyone as they walked by. He asked if he could hug just about everyone in costume. We had so much fun, and it has me so excited for all that the next month will bring.

He loved this pirate ship and the captain hook inside of it.

He was so thrilled about hugging this "firehouse dog"!
I also wanted to tell you a little about my plans for December. A few months back, when it was still warm and sunny until late at night, Logan was already so excited about Christmas. That excitement got me thinking about some fun ideas for things that I wanted to do with him this season. Some of them are things that I did as a little girl, some are just things that I think he would like. Before I knew it, I had a pretty good sized list of Christmas related things I was hoping to do.

I am planning to do something Christmas related with him as a little daily advent for every day in December (until the 25th). I thought that it would be such a fun way to enjoy the season. I want him to know what Christmas is really about and why we celebrate.

If you want to follow along this season, or collect ideas for fun things to do with your kids, I will be posting about what we have been up to on Sundays. It will just be a quick snip-it/ picture about each day of the week and what we did. It might just be something little like a Christmas ornament, or it might be bigger like going to pick out our tree. I wanted to document all of this so that we would have it to look back at years from now. If you have any fun family traditions that would work for a toddler, I would love any other ideas I can get. Please do share!
