one:
I have re-found my love for sewing this week. I had never really lost it, but not having a place to keep everything set up had put a damper on the whole hobby for a while. Tuesday, I came home from a trip with my mother and sister in law with a whole pile of fabric in my hands. I set up this old school desk that I had planned to update for Logan within the next couple years (but works for me in the meantime because I am so short). I put it in our bedroom window overlooking the river out back. It has been so nice to have my own little spot to sit and create.

Logan has been talking about his love of all things Christmas for months now. He is an absolute Christmas fanatic. It seems that Halloween was barely over when the stores were decked out with Christmas decorations and music. And the pictures of cozy fireplaces decorated with lights and stockings have come down my news feed a few times now. And while Dan says that there will be no decorating until December, we have started to get some fun craft and activity ideas for next month together. I had a few of them set out on the table the other day, and Logan just couldn't stand the anticipation anymore. I would find him hiding with jingle bells or a piece to the nativity. So I told him he could make a decoration now and we would hang it up with the other decorations later. He was in heaven with all of the glitter and jewels for lights. Any fun Thanksgiving related activity recommendations for toddlers? I would love to do a few fun Thanksgiving crafts or recipes with him this week.

Speaking of this time of year... it seems that by the end of October each year we are spending as much time as we can outside playing. It is like a race against the weather to get in as much fresh air and playing on grass as possible before the snow falls. We may be cold, but the thought of the long winter ahead and so much time indoors somehow makes us a little more resilient. We have been out riding bikes, drawing with chalk, hiding in the trees with glow sticks at night, and star gazing. The frost and chill in the mornings are a constant reminder of what lies ahead (although I am sure Logan will be equally excited about snowman building season).
four:
We had one pretty rough day at home this week. Logan wasn't feeling great and didn't sleep well either, so he was grumpy and more difficult than usual. It made the whole day a challenge. Thankfully, Dan had finished up with a job a little early and came home right as I was putting Logan down for his nap. He asked what I wanted to do during Logan's nap. "Thrift shopping alone" may have come flying out of my mouth before he could finish the question. Being the awesome guy that he is, he said I should go and take a few hours to be by myself. So off I went, with a list of some of the things I wanted to be looking for. It is amazing what can be done in a few hours of toddler free time. At the first store I found a brand new Lands End Jacket (pictured above). Online it is listed for $169 but I paid just $9. I was thrilled with that find as it was something that I really needed for the winter. I went on to find a North Face jacket (similar here) for $5 and this little flannel in a different color for Logan for $1. I found a couple other great deals and headed home feeling completely thankful for a husband that understands when I need a little break.
Anyone already decorating for Christmas? I agreed to wait until after Thanksgiving, but after that all bets are off. Wishing you all an awesome weekend!
