If you came over for coffee today {02}

You might smell a candle that has been burning all day... because it is that time of year again. Anything apple is always my first pick.

Since we are good friends I would probably greet you in these (↑) sweats and slippers.

Actually, Logan would probably be the first to greet you. He runs toward the door at the slightest sign that someone might be standing on the other side of it. He would scream "DADDDYYY!!" and then say, "Oh... I guess it's not daddy" in the most disappointed tone when he got a good look at you. No offense, of course.

We would sit out back on the deck while drinking coffee and catching up. I realized the other day that we have hugely neglected our little space back there this year. It is so beautiful in the afternoons. Dan and Logan even spotted an eagle out over the river last week.
We spent so much time out there last summer/ fall and just like that the seasons are slipping through our fingers while we hurry here and there. Logan would dig out back for hours if I let him.

I have been trying to only have one cup of coffee a day, but I would make an exception for you. I would pour us each a second cup, and ask what is new in your life. Do you feel like time is flying by as quickly as I do?

I might tell you about how I am struggling a bit with those parenting doubts. The ones that tell us we are doing it all wrong. The ones that keep you up praying that you will do the right thing... be the best example you can be.

Logan would ask to go get his cars, and would probably want to bury them all in the sand. And then dig them up one by one. He has been obsessed with match box cars lately. He has a whole collection of new ones and even some that Dan played with as a kid. He has a race track set up and is constantly betting which one will be the winner. He shoots them from the stairs all the way across the living room.

There would probably be remnants of my last "project" laid out on the table. I have been so into crafting lately that I have so many things going at once. I have been working on scrap booking a little. Wall hangings, paintings, decorations for Logan's room, and anything else crafty has been consuming most of my free time. I had forgotten what I was missing. Perhaps that "create" mug has sparked some motivation in me.

When it was time for you to go, I would tell you how we really need to do this again soon. Life has a way of getting ahead of us sometimes, and an afternoon of coffee with a friend was just what the doctor ordered.
