Our bedroom Before & After

I know I said I would post this a while ago… but once again I am late. Our bedroom is finally *pretty much* done. My goal for the room was to have a colorful and peaceful place that I could drink a cup of coffee, read a book or magazine, and enjoy Logan’s naps or my free time. I also wanted to do it pretty inexpensively. We don’t have a TV in here right now and are trying to decide if we really want one in this room anyway. We had a TV in our bedroom until we moved here, but have started to enjoy having that time to unwind together and talk rather than being distracted with TV once we come upstairs. We may add it at some point, but for now it is just a peaceful escape from everything else.

Before the room was just very plain… pathetically plain.
Here are some BEFORE pictures.
(Sorry about the light spots in some of them.)

If you know me well enough to have been in my room since Logan could move around, you probably know that this (^) corner usually looks a little different than this. There is usually a mountain of clean laundry that lands here. I am horrible about getting it folded and put away right away. I am hoping the makeover will encourage me to fold it right away.

Here are some AFTER Pictures.

It was difficult to get color-authentic pictures so the color may be a little different than it appears here. You will have to just stop by and check it out if you want to see what it really looks like. Also, to save Dan's painting reputation I should point out that there are a ton of shadows all over the wall. I am not sure if it was the time of day or just the trees out back but his paint job looks great. :)

We bought the down comforter because we were planning to get a new one anyway.
Dan had bought the quilt for me on our first married Christmas.

The wedding photo above our bed I got for half off with a coupon from shutterfly.

Green Curtains- $16

Some of my favorite places to find decorations or furniture are local thrift shops. I found this glider at
a local thrift shop for $10. It didn't have any cushions but I figured between my love for sewing and my
mother in law's talent with sewing we could come up with something. I ended up finding these cushions at
Christmas tree shops for $15. We loved them so I decided to skip making them and just use these.
I was thrilled with the price spent on this glider and love having a place to sit and look out on the river.

Wall Art- $2.99
These are just 12x12 canvases that I had gotten for a craft a while back. I never ended up using them for
the initial plan so I covered them in this fun fabric that I got at a fabric sale. This was the total cost to me
for all four of them, but it would be a little more if you needed to buy the canvas.

I found this mirror for $2.00 and snatched it up. I added some crafting rope as a frame
because it was just plain before. I also added some flowers from hobby lobby
(to cover where the rope began and ended). Voila! super cheap makeup mirror :)

Vase- $1.75
Chad picked out what flowers would go nicely
in it and he even bought them too! I have an awesome little brother.
Basket- $.75 (at the same store that I found the mirror)
I sprayed it with some white paint and then added this throw that I found at Marshalls ($10).
I love these blankets and have three different colored ones in the house right now.
They are super soft and the perfect addition to a cup of coffee and a good book.

The blue tray here I got on clearance at Marshalls. The vase is just a prego jar (free) with
crafting rope hot glued to it. It was an easy way to make a vase that matched the mirror.

I am still keeping my eyes open for a bedroom set for a reasonable price (with matching bed stands). I am also going to be looking for a trunk or bench for the foot of the bed to hold extra blankets. I will do updates as we add more but for now I am pretty pleased with what we have gotten done recently.
