Inside fun

I love the cooler days that we have been having.
This is no question my favorite time of year.
I love baking and all of the fall smells and walks outside.
I could go on and on and on....

Although it is a little early in the game we have started considering some indoor activities for when the weather gets so chilly that we can't spend as much time outside with the baby. We are slowly making progress with each room but aren't close to being done with the house yet. The most incomplete of all the rooms is the basement. It is a good size but is not finished and is just a cement floor.

We have been discussing how we can best take advantage of the space. The goal is to find some fun activities for a busy baby/ toddler at a good price. So far we have a small sandbox that we were given (free) and some toys to go with that. We haven't decided whether we are going to fill it with sand or with rice yet but that will be a fun indoor activity for the winter.

We would like to find some more foam pieces that fit together for flooring because we don't want to take the chance of him falling on the hard floor. We may also get a carpet to make it a more comfortable play area. For now we are keeping our eyes open for something like that for a good price.

I have been looking for anything that will help make those short, dark, snowy days a little more fun for the baby. We were walking through Target the other day and saw big bags of ball pit balls at a great price. We decided to see if they had any small pools on sale for the end of the season. We found a small one for $4! A few hours later he had his own personal ball pit. He loves it and I am sure he will find it a ton of fun as he gets a little bit older too!

We took it outside for him to play in today. He loves being outside and it was great weather for it!

When we got back inside I wanted warm hot cocoa so bad! I have for a few days now but haven't remembered to pick any up at the grocery store. I made a batch of homemade hot cocoa and it was so good I don't know if I will ever buy the mix again. Of course Dan let Logan try it and he couldn't get enough. He kept smacking his lips for more :)
