If you came over for coffee today, Logan would most definitely be the first to greet you at the
door. He gets so excited to hear the doorbell ring, and shouts "OUR GUESTS ARE HERE!!!" even if it is just UPS. Don't worry, he knows that he has to
wait until I am right there with him to open it.
After you make it through the crowd that inevitably meets you at the
door, I would grab you some coffee and ask if you want a muffin and fruit to go
with it. It has been one of our go-to easy breakfasts this summer. I would ask you how life
has been. What’s new with you? I would ask about your plans for this fall,
because I am getting way. too. excited. for all of the fall festivities.
Eliott would try to climb my legs in hopes of getting
muffins, fruit, anything edible really. That boy lives for food. He searches the
floors for anything edible, and it is impossible to keep small toys out of his
reach. Luckily, he spits legos, and other small toys out as soon as he figures
out they aren’t food. Cat food on the other hand is a constant struggle. Someone needs to invent a cat food container that the cats can get into, but babies can't. I digress...
I would ask you if you had been reading anything good lately. I have
read a couple awesome books this summer. It is hard to find the time to read
anything other than kids books these days, but I have been trying to do at
least a little every day because it is something I really enjoy. Of course the
classic children’s books are on constant rotation around here. Most recent favorites
are, Blueberries for Sal and Make Way For Ducklings (both by Robert McCloskey).
I think I might order this Tickle Monster one soon because it looks
absolutely adorable and I love finding books that I can include both kids in
since we are doing chapter books at bedtime with Logan now.
I might bring up some recent thoughts on marriage and relationships. God has
taught me so much this summer in regards to my marriage. And it isn’t anything
like a we have it all figured out
type of thing. In fact, it is more like a we
really don’t have it figured out at all kind of lesson. But he has brought so
much peace and freedom in that, because it allows us to stop relying on another
person to feel secure, and to start remembering that God is always enough. I am so thankful for our marriage and all of
the ways we have grown through the years. But that is for another post...
I hope you had a nice coffee chat with me... even if there were a
million interruptions along the way. That is the craziness of raising these
little guys, and I love every bit of our craziness. Pass the coffee. J
Oh friend, I would love to come over and drink coffee with you and share a muffin with Eliott. Logan sounds like quite the little host with good excitement over people arriving! What a wonderful chat we would have about marriage and all you're learning. I'd love to hear more about that when you're able to share. I know today boys keep you busy!
ReplyDeleteLol he sounds like a good host, but if it isn't one of his little friends he doesn't hide his disappointment at all. ;) Yes, I am hoping to write more of my thoughts on that in September.
DeleteSounds like my house.. my youngest is also obsessed with food.. he will sit down to eat when ever anyone sits down to eat.. he jumps for food even when we are just discussing the grocery list.
ReplyDeleteHaha so cute!
DeleteI cannot wait for fall either! Getting real tired of all the summer heat. Would love to hear more about what you've learned about marriage! It is so true that God is enough. Good thing we can rely on him because then we know we'll always be taken care of.
ReplyDeleteExactly he offers the security we need! I am getting pretty done with the heat here too. Although, summer has flown by so fast that I am scared autumn will too. Then we will be covered in feet of snow. And I am so not ready for snow... but I am getting a little ahead of myself I suppose. :)
