10 Years Ago

I got this post idea from Rach over at This Italian Family. She came up with it a few weeks ago, and I loved reading about the things she did ten years ago versus now. I wanted to give it a try because I thought it would be such a fun post to look back at in another ten years.

This was more like nine years ago, but it was the oldest one that I had on this computer.

[Fast Food]
10 yrs ago- I think Wendys or KFC, but both have gone so downhill since then.
Now- Does Panera drive-thru count? Their cheddar broccoli soup is the best.

[Favorite Food]
10 yrs ago- I think I would have said lasagna. (Especially my mom's chicken and spinach lasagna.)
Now- I still love lasagna, but now it would probably be a steak and salad dinner.

[Breakfast]
10 yrs ago- I hardly ever ate breakfast before school because it made me feel sick. But on the weekends I loved French toast.
Now- Probably a blueberry muffin and spinach and fruit smoothie.

[Relationship]
10 yrs ago- I had been "dating" Dan for about two years. Although, it didn't become official until May of that year, when Dan turned 16 and was allowed to date.
Now- Married to Dan for 5 years last September.

[Age / Life Stage]
10 yrs ago- I was fifteen and a freshman in highschool.
Now- I am twenty five, married, and a mom of two.

[Work] 
10 yrs ago- I was babysitting, and working part time on my grandparent's farm.
Now- I stay at home with the boys... doing what I love for now.

[Car]
10 yrs ago- I didn't have my license yet.
Now- Driving an SUV or minivan depending on the day. My very first car (at 16 yrs old) was a minivan too. I think it is safe to say that I don't mind driving a minivan nearly as much now as I did then.

[Coffee Shop of Choice]
10 yrs ago- Definitely Dunkin Donuts on the way to or from school.
Now- Aroma Joes or Starbucks. I don't go out for coffee nearly as often now. So it is more of a treat than an everyday thing like it was then.

[Shopping]
10 yrs ago- I was happy to shop just about anywhere, but my friends and I always went to the mall on the weekends.
Now- Target is definitely my favorite find-anything store, but I also love Marshalls/TJ Maxx. I still love to shop, so I will add that I love H&M and Maurices if the boys stay home with Dan so that I have time to browse.

[Hair Care]
10 yrs ago- My sister was in hairdressing school, so I got trims pretty regularly. I also got to use all of the salon quality products she brought home. She would try out all of the new braids/ hairstyles that she was learning on me. My hair got a lot more attention back then. :)
Now- I get a trim when my split ends get so bad that I can't brush through them anymore... so bad! I usually use bed head shampoo and conditioner, and coconut oil or Paul Mitchell's super skinny on the ends while damp. I let it air dry, and either do a ponytail, messy bun, or braid. On really good days I take the time to straighten it.

[Superhero]
10 yrs ago- I don't think I cared/ knew anything about the superheroes.
Now- Batman is definitely my favorite. I think that I have only grown to love batman because of how much Logan loves him though.

[Books]
10 yrs ago- I mostly only read books that we needed to read for school and the Bible/ devotionals.
Now- I read parenting books or books that include a bunch of short stories (for a quick read while Eliott nurses). I also still read the Bible and devotionals for moms/ wives, but I don't make as much time for reading in general as I would love to.
