meal planning progress

One of my New Year's Goals this year was to be better about meal planning. With that goal in mind, I knew that I had to get myself a little more organized. I wanted to have my online recipes printed out so that I didn't have to go fishing through multiple websites when I wanted to find one. A while back, I had tried a recipe that we all loved, only to look for it a second time and find the entire web page was gone. So sad! I also wanted to make sure they were easy to grab when making my shopping list. So I have begun the process of printing out any favorite recipes and putting them all in one binder that I can keep in the kitchen to make meal planning go smoothly.

I also made a "menu" sign so that we can easily plan meals for each night of the week. I found the "day of the week" clips at marshalls and the chalkboard sign at walmart. I have never been good about planning exactly what day we will have certain meals. I guess I like having the flexibility of choosing a quick meal on days that get busy. When I am about to do my weekly shopping trip, I pick about six dinners for the week and build my shopping list around those meals. The clips make it easy to switch the meals around depending on what we have (or don't have) going on that day.

I am excited about adding in these little changes and hope they will help with the overall meal planning/ grocery shopping/ budgeting around here! I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

  2. Yes it totally does! I love my crock pot for days when I don't feel like doing much. I am working on finding great crock pot recipes with just a few ingredients now to make those busy days a little easier.
