A quick look at our week + Closet Organization Week Two: Linen Closet

Logan and I went to work with Dan this week. I was cleaning at the same house that he was painting at. A relative owns the house as a rental property. We are cleaning it out/ painting for the next tenants. It was fun to be able to work at the same place that Dan did, but it also meant managing Logan while we each worked all week. We found some fun things for him to do and overall it went very well!

This tub of water with toys was a life saver on nice days this week. He loved it and even climbed right in the tub for a bit. My mom let us borrow her portable DVD player which came in very handy on rainy days.

It was definitely an adjustment packing lunch for all three of us but it was kind of fun to take a picnic style lunch break with the family.

It was such a busy week that I didn't get around to blogging much. By the time I got dinner done, lunch packed for the next day, and Logan in bed, I was ready for bed too. I wanted to post about my second week of closet organization, though. This one was a pretty easy one (as it is such a small area) but definitely needed an overhaul in order to get things back on track. It made it so much easier to find what I need. Here is what I did to our small hallway closet...

I think the biggest difference in the "after" is that everything now has a designated space to live. We had gotten used to just throwing sheets, towels, pillow cases, and extra blankets wherever they would fit. I bought those blue stacking bins at the dollar store after realizing how perfect they were for our entryway closet. They are great for play yard sheets, crib sheets, and face cloths. I found that chevron fabric hamper at Walmart to store some of our extra blankets and small pillows in.

Next week, I am hoping to tackle Logan's closet. It will be the biggest job as far as closets go in the whole house (we still have some stuff in there from when he was a newborn). I am excited to have it much more organized and functional, but I know that it will be a lot of work. It may also be difficult because I usually get to things like this during his nap and will have to change my game plan since it is in his room.

I would love any hints you have for tackling an organization job like this. Should I split the job up into two separate weeks? Any moms out there find specific items especially useful for organizing a kids closet? Let me know if you have any pointers to give!
