Last week we spent some time home because we were all sick at some point during the week. By Wednesday Logan and I needed to get outside, even if only for a few minutes. I thought I would share a little Easter project that we had a lot of fun with. My mother in law gave us some grass seed and the idea to do a resurrection garden with Logan this year. I know he is still young and may not be able to understand everything I tell him about Easter and what it means to us, but I think it is important to talk to him about Jesus and all of the ways he has shown his love for us.
I have been gathering ideas for little Easter lessons for toddlers and will do some more activities as the day gets closer. On Easter day, we will roll the big stone away from the planter and talk about the empty tomb and what it means to us. Logan has been having so much fun spraying the bowl with water every day and watching the grass grow. It had started popping up through the soil in just a few days, and it is now completely grown so there would still be time to do this little project before Easter.
Instead of running to the store, I just used what we had around the house/ outside for the project. You could buy a special bowl but I just used a dog bowl and a small plastic planter for the tomb. |
We did some scooping and dumping. |
Then we added the planter and grass seed. |
Next, we added the rocks. |
Finally we added the crosses and talked about how much Jesus loves us. |
He loved it and it was a great reason to spend a few minutes outside too! |
Then he watered it for the next few days. |
