I would watch him sleep and let out those newborn squeaks. I remember checking in on him about 10 times before I could even get myself to close my eyes the night that I had him.
That feeling hasn't changed much except for that now, I look in on my toddler. My little boy, that stays so busy all day. He has so much energy to burn and then finally, when the day is over and bed time has come and gone... I check in on him one last time before bed.
I take a minute to soak in his little hands and feet, the way his lips fall when his binky falls out of his mouth, the silly positions he somehow finds comfortable, and so much more. I soak in everything I can about his little sleeping body, because I know that one day I will be checking in on my five year old, or my eight year old, and although I am sure that I will find things that melt my heart then too, he will never be this size again.
Here are some pictures I have taken on different nights in the past month or so. They are mostly just taken on my phone because that is what I usually have with me. I just can't help taking pictures some nights because I never want to forget it!
He passed out on the living room floor in this one. That never happens anymore so I snapped a quick picture. |
