After he went to bed I started looking through the pictures I have saved on my computer for the last year. If anyone asked me how the first year of being married was, I wouldn't hesitate to say absolutely amazing. I love being married to my best friend. I was also thinking about how he treats me. I can not believe how some women are treated by their husbands. I know this goes both ways and many men are treated poorly also. I don't think there is a day that goes by that I am not thankful for how he treats me. I am so thankful to his parents for who they are and how they raised their children. Sometimes I am really convinced I am literally the luckiest girl in the world to have him. Anyway I thought I would share a couple of those photos.
First I will start with a picture of the wedding ceremony. I am SO not good with being up in front of people.... the center of attention. I think this used to be different but as I got older it scared me to death. I cried the whole way to the ceremony that day. It was a good thing that it was about 40 minutes away from our house because I sobbed... It was pathetic. :) I was not scared at all about actually marrying Dan but I could not stand the thought of being up in front of everyone ALL night. I was tempted to just tell Dan I would meet him at the hotel afterwards. I am glad I didn't now, but I have never been so nervous about something. I still get like this even for the regular doctors appointment that I have to go to at least once a month. Well, I don't cry like I did but I certainly feel sick to my stomach. Anyway It was a good thing the trip was so long because I was able to recover and smile through it!
This next one was on our honeymoon. It may have been the most fun two weeks of my life so far! I loved being able to spend that much time together. We talked about how excited we were for the the future. We are so happy now that we spent the time in New England because we both love fall weather. I didn't think I was too stressed about the wedding leading up to it but it felt so good to have it over!
And this one is us in the glider...
Okay this next one is evidence of the destruction our cats can manage. We got the cats a few months before we got married so they must have been about 6 or 7 months at this point. We woke up one morning and I headed downstairs to get coffee and let the dog out. The first room I walked into was covered in swirls of bakers yeast and marshmallows. I went into the kitchen and it continued. I still think they got almost every square inch of the downstairs. They had broken into the cupboards over night and had taken a whole bag of yeast and two bags of marshmallows out and went to town. It was one of those times when all you wanted to do was be mad but you couldn't because it was just too funny.
Our Christmas Tree...
One of our date nights...
Dan's 21st Birthday...
Dan felt the baby kick for the first time last Thursday night. I wish I had a picture of his reaction to post. He was so amazed. Now he is poking at my stomach all of the time hoping he will get a kick. I think he is secretly trying to make the baby a soccer player already. Anyway this post is long enough. We had a great year and so much has happened.
