St. Patrick's Day Fun

St. Patrick's day is one holiday that we didn't really celebrate growing up. Probably because my siblings and I are a good part Native American. While we do have a little Irish in us, it was never a holiday that we cared much about.

Dan is a good part Irish. (I am not really sure of the exact numbers.) On the St. Patrick's day after having Logan, he told me about some of the fun things his mom would do with them to celebrate. She would do leprechaun footprints, and they would make traps to catch the leprechauns in.

Last year was the first year that I did anything to really celebrate with Logan. I had just found out I was pregnant two days prior, so green cupcakes and a few decorations ended up being the extent of our celebration. Logan is quite the holiday fanatic, so all year he would ask, "Is St. Patrick's Day almost here yet?!"

So this year I decided we would have a lot of fun with it and make some memories...

We presented the idea of leprechauns the same way that we do Santa, the Easter bunny, or any other made up holiday story. He knows they are a fun thing to imagine, but that they aren't real, and there are no little men sneaking around the house while he sleeps. ;) That didn't stop him from the fun of setting traps to catch them today though.

I love this shot because this is the same look Eliott has on every single time Logan is in the room.
I caught him grinning ear to ear while watching Logan eat yesterday... so cute!

There were even prints on our toilet and green "leprechaun pee".

He followed the trail of gold nuggets into the dining room to find his letter this morning.

His "pot of gold"

Little bearded man watching us set our trap up.

After setting our traps we came inside to make green cupcakes for dessert.

Dan's favorite part of the day was the corned beef dinner.

Our dessert.

I had such a fun day with the boys, and I know Logan loved it too!
Now he is really going to be impatient waiting for it to come around again next year.

Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?
