A Day In Our Shoes

I have been wanting to do a post about what a typical day looks like for us. We wind up going out to do something most days, but I wanted to be able to look back at what life looked like when Logan was two. Since today was another snow day and we were stuck inside anyway, I decided to go for it!

I usually try to get up and ready for the day (and sometimes even get a workout in) before Logan wakes up. Since he is a super light sleeper (and ended up in the toddler bed in our room because he was up half the night) I didn't do much of anything before he woke up. I quietly read and started making my coffee.

He woke up around nine and I went up to get him. I sort of love the toddler bed as opposed to the crib because I can sneak in some cuddles while he wakes up.

Then we went downstairs. I usually just talk or sing to him while he drinks his milk in the morning. Sometimes he gives me little grunts for answers... the kind you give to the dentist when he asks questions while working on your teeth. It is one of the few still times during the day. Today, I put the Tigger movie on, drank my coffee, and watched a few minutes of that with him. My sister called and we chatted for a while as I cleaned the kitchen up. (I am so bad about cleaning it before bed so it usually happens in the morning.)
Yes, I always drink my coffee with a straw.

While I was talking to my sister, I checked on Logan in the living room. He was reading the Tigger book while watching the movie. I love that he is making use of his toes as a book stand.

Eggs and broccoli are the usual for breakfast these days.
I don't have ketchup with my eggs when there are veggies mixed in, but he requested it.

After breakfast, Logan played in his room while I took a shower and got ready for the day. It is a rare moment to see him working on puzzles (normally he just doesn't have any patience for them) but I caught it on camera this morning.

While I was getting ready, he came in and started doing pull ups on the towel bar. He said he was getting STRONGER like daddy and his uncles.

Then, we brushed his teeth and got him ready for the day.

We usually play with toys for a while mid morning.
Today, we made necklaces and bracelets with his beads and then played with some other toys.

He had a morning snack... yogurt & crackers. During his snack we usually work on learning a few new letters. Sometimes we do flash cards or work on numbers. Then... more playing.

He helped me fold some laundry and vacuum and then we ate lunch. We had cashews, carrot sticks, and pasta. Tomorrow is grocery shopping day so it was a strange mix but he loves them all.

After lunch he usually has some more milk and we read for a bit before his nap. He always wants his corn bag warmed up before bed. He was pretty tired today so he fell asleep quickly.

And then I looked out the window... seriously?!?!
Dan called to tell me that he was on his way home. Thankfully, he got home safely.

Logan's nap time is my get everything done time. I clean, workout, do paperwork, blog, fold laundry, organize, or prep dinner. I just try to fit in as much as possible. Some days I am super productive, and other days I only manage to paint my nails and watch my favorite show. I usually try to leave my nights pretty open to spend time with Dan, but once in a while stuff spills over to when Logan falls asleep again at night. Today was a tax paperwork day. I am hoping to have everything tax related done by then end of the month. We will see how that goes...

He came home with diapers and milk. Both were very necessary. Good man.

Dan usually spends time playing with Logan when he gets home. I love that he wants to spend his nights doing play dough or building block towers for Logan to kick over. I usually hang with them for a little bit and then start dinner.

Tonight was taco salad night. We usually have tacos once a week because we all love them so much. I always make way more than we can eat because we eat the leftovers over the next couple days.

After dinner we usually play for a while. Sometimes we listen to music or watch a family show. Most nights Logan takes a bath before bed. We read some more books and do our bedtime routine. He is usually in bed around 8:30.

Then I get some alone time with Dan. I love this time of day. Everything slows down and we just get to be together. Sometimes we watch our favorite shows, bake something yummy, or play a game before bed. This is also the time that we use to do business stuff that didn't get done during the day (emails, bills, or he will clean out and organize his brushes and supplies).

Now I am going to go enjoy the rest of the night with him.
I hope you all had a wonderful day (snowed in or not)!
