Closet Organization

I have started working on the downstairs bathroom, mostly so that I can be done with the painting mind set for a while. Of course, I couldn't focus on just one thing at a time so while I was waiting for primer in the bathroom to dry, I got busy on some organizing in there. The closet has needed some attention for a while. I might end up painting the closet a fresh coat of white after I am done with the main walls in the bathroom, but I decided to start with organizing.

Here is what the closet looked like before I started organizing.

I bought bins with this closet in mind when I took a trip to the dollar store for these bins that I used for organizing the medicine cabinet and freezer. I bought blue and white ones because I knew that was the color scheme we would be going with for the bathroom. I added some tags so that I can easily see what is in each bin.

On one side I hung nails for
  •  Logan's potty seat (making it easy to grab when we need it, but also keeping it out of the way when it is not being used)
  • A sleeve for extra trash bags for the bathroom.
  • Dust pan

On the other side of the closet I hung nails for:

  • The swiffer
  • The broom
  • The duster
  • The ironing board
  • and have the dining room table leaves tucked in here so that they are accessible but aren't out in the open.

Then I attached these pictures of Logan's hands and feet to canvases that I covered in fabric. It was a great way to fill the white gap in the closet and add a personal touch. I may change them to something else at some point but love looking at these sweet pictures when I go to throw in a load of laundry.

Here is what the closet looked like after everything found a home in the bins. I placed things that we don't use as often on top (sunscreen, bug spray, hair cutting kit, etc.) On bottom, I placed all of the stuff that we use more often (toilet paper, laundry detergent, extra hand towels and soap, and Dan's paint brush cleaning tools.) It makes it so easy to grab what I need, instead of having to go digging for something.
