As promised yesterday, this is my vacation post. Just as a heads up... it has potential to be pretty lengthy with a lot of pictures of the week. We had a good time at the lake and were thankful for the chance to go. I have got plenty of laundry, house cleaning, and sleeping to do around here in the next few days to get caught up, but it was well worth the break! So here goes...
We got everything packed up and ready to leave Wednesday night/ Thursday morning. We decided to leave on the 2.5 hour drive during Logan's nap time Thursday. We figured it would make things run smoothly if he slept through most of the ride. Just in case, Dan brought me this baggie as we were about to head out.
It had "Last Resort Emergency Road Kit" written on it. Inside, was a bib and a lollipop.
I laughed it off but looking back am SO thankful we had it! |
We ended up being about twenty minutes from camp when Logan woke up. Perfect right? It was. Until... we decided to pull over at a rest stop only one exit from the one that we needed to get off at. We wanted to get out and use the bathroom and I figured Logan would be more pleasant for the rest of the ride if he could get out, stretch, and have a dry diaper. We loaded back into the car and headed out.
Just as we were leaving the parking lot, someone cut Dan off. The only option besides a crash was to get back on the highway headed away from camp. We were headed back the way that we had just come. The next exit took at least twenty minutes to reach, in order to turn around. That added another forty or fifty frustrating minutes to our ride. I was so thankful for that Emergency kit that kept Logan content. Thank goodness for smart daddies and a God that kept us from a car accident!
After the whole family was there, we celebrated my mom's birthday with an ice cream cake for dessert. Later that week, before Jesse and Andrea had gone home we celebrated Andrea's birthday with cake too. We also all did a lobster dinner together. It was nice to be able to celebrate as a family and we certainly had plenty of delicious food.
Here are some pictures that I snapped while Jesse's family was still at camp. We had joined them half way through their week in Maine, and then stayed for half a week after they went home.

Chad bought this floating island a few months ago and it was perfect for camp.
The kids loved being able to swim in it and it was perfect for lounging in the sun too! |
There were so many beautiful sunsets! |
Eliza, Jesse, and Chad coming back from a fishing trip. |
Cake Face! |
This is a new thing Logan is all of the sudden obsessed with too.
He loves holding hands lately.
I don't really mind... at all... I pretty much love it. :) |
Happy Girl! |
After that, the cousins left and it was just my Mom, Chad, Logan, and I for the rest of the week.
He thought it was pretty hilarious when I found him hiding. |
This is Logan's new favorite piece of clothing. He loves batman for some reason.
He spotted them in the store and really wanted them. Since he didn't have any
slippers that fit, I decided I would get them. |
He figured out how to open car doors all by himself this week too! |
It was a little too chilly for Logan to swim one afternoon, so we brought his toys out in the pack n play.
He had fun playing in the sun, while the rest of us went swimming. |
Another beautiful sunset! |
Chad in the canoe. |
We can't wait to go again!
