Updates... A little at a time.

We have been working on the downstairs bathroom lately. I have wanted to get to the bathroom for a while now. There is so much that I want to change in there. The things that we have already done have gotten me excited. While we do still have a lot to do, I thought I would share one project that we did a couple of weeks ago. I had been wanting to do a makeover on the medicine cabinets since we moved in. We are using a dark color for the walls, so I thought now would be the perfect time to make it over and add some light color contrast. I will update you on the rest of the bathroom makeover when we are done with the whole room.

The townhouses were built in the 80s, which was great in the sense that the house was very livable. It did not need any work done when we first moved in which calmed my mommy- to- a- four- month- old- nerves. However, when we did our first tour of the place we hoped to change out some of the 80s styled accessories and have a more modern vibe going before we go to sell it again. I will have to do a blog post with a list of things that we would love to change out before showing the house when we eventually, make another move.

Here is what the cabinet looked like before the update.
Sorry for the weird angle.
It turns out the bathroom isn't the best place to get an awesome picture.

Here it is after Logan went to bed that night and we went to town with Dan's new sander.
(Yes, he slept right through the sander noise.)

Here is the result after a coat of primer and two coats of Benjamin Moore semi gloss white paint. We also added some new handles to give it an updated look. That fake wood/gold handle would have looked a little out of place.

All in all, it was a pretty simple project. It didn't take a lot of time and if Dan wasn't so particular about how things in our house are painted, it would have been a pretty easy task for me to take on alone. I was thankful for his help though, after all projects taken on between 10pm and 1am are always best with a buddy to help you out right? Now that we have a little experience, we will be tackling the upstairs one soon too!
